# A calculator you type to

> Type “15% of 240”, “200 + 10%”, “5 km to miles” or “20 degC to degF” and see the answer as you type. Opens with Ctrl+Shift+Alt+K from any app.

Type a sum the way you would say it. The answer shows as you type, Enter keeps it in the history, and you carry on from it.

## What it does
- **Plain-words math.** “15% of 240”, “200 + 10%” (= 220), “5 km to miles”, “sqrt(144)”, “2^10”, “20 degC to degF”, plus a tap keypad.
- **A history you can reuse.** “ans” is the last answer. The history keeps the last 200 sums; copy an answer or reuse a sum.
- **Locked down.** The engine is the math library mathjs with scripting turned off. A sum can be up to 1,000 characters.

## Shortcuts

All shortcuts can be changed in Settings > Shortcuts.

## Good to know
- It handles math and units, but there is no currency conversion anywhere in PerchDeck.

### Can the calculator convert currencies?
No. It handles math and units, such as “5 km to miles”, but not currency.
