# One note, always a hover away

> A single scratch note that autosaves as you type, with Markdown formatting, checklists and a live word count. Open it from any app with Ctrl+Shift+Alt+N.

A place to put the thing you need to remember for the next five minutes. It saves about 0.3 seconds after you stop typing.

## What it does
- **Saves as you type.** A status shows “Saved”, “Saving…” or “Couldn't save – Retry”, with a live word and character count.
- **Markdown, lightly.** Bold (Ctrl+B), Italic (Ctrl+I), Heading, Bullet list, Checklist and Code. Switch between Write and Preview, and tick checklist items in the preview.
- **Move text around.** Copy all, Read in teleprompter, or Clear (with a few seconds to undo).

## Shortcuts
- `Ctrl+Shift+Alt+N`: Quick note (cursor in the note)

All shortcuts can be changed in Settings > Shortcuts.

## Good to know
- Tables are not styled in the preview. Links in the preview are not clickable, and raw HTML is shown as text, never run.
- Up to 4 MB.

## Questions
### Can I keep several notes?
No. Note is one quick scratch note. Use Snippets for text you reuse and Voice for spoken memos.
