# Text you reuse, one shortcut away

> Save the replies and phrases you type again and again. PerchDeck snippets support {date}, {time}, {clipboard} and fill-in blanks, and paste from a picker shortcut.

Save a snippet once, then copy it from the panel or paste it into the app you were in with the picker shortcut.

## What it does
- **Placeholders.** {date} and {time} use your PC's own format, {clipboard} inserts whatever you copied just before, and any other {word} (for example {city} or {order id}) becomes a blank PerchDeck asks you to fill in first.
- **A picker for any app.** Press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S to open Snippets with search ready. Press Enter and the snippet is pasted into the app you were in.
- **Keeps your history clean.** Snippets copied from here do not land in your clipboard history. Search by name or text, pin favorites, and see “Used N times” on each.
- **Turn any clip into a snippet.** Use “Save as snippet” on a text item in your clipboard history.

## Shortcuts
- `Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S`: Open the snippet picker

All shortcuts can be changed in Settings > Shortcuts.

## Good to know
- Snippets are copied or pasted from the panel or the picker. PerchDeck does not expand text as you type in other apps.
- A name can be up to 80 characters and the text up to 1,000,000.

## Questions
### Is PerchDeck a text expander?
No. You cannot type a short code anywhere to expand text. You pick a snippet from the panel or the picker shortcut, and it is copied or pasted for you.
