# A teleprompter that scrolls under your camera

> Read a script right under your webcam, in the notch. Adjustable speed, fit-to-time, mirror mode, and optional hiding from screen sharing and recordings that capture the screen.

Part of [PerchDeck](https://perchdeck.app/) for Windows. Canonical page: https://perchdeck.app/features/teleprompter

“Write or paste what you want to read, then press play. It scrolls under the camera.” Looking at the notch keeps your eyes near the lens.

## What it does
- **Scripts.** A title and the text, up to 200 scripts of up to 100,000 characters each (about 20,000 words). It remembers how far through each one you got.
- **Speed and size.** 40 to 400 words per minute (default 150) and text from 20 to 120 px. Change them while reading with the sliders or with Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Up and Down (10 wpm a step).
- **Fit to a time.** Type how long it should take (3:00, 90, 2m) and it sets the speed to fit.
- **Made for calls.** A small reading panel sits just under the camera and leaves faces on a call uncovered. A 3-second countdown (default), a soft reading line, and Mirror the text for a prompter glass.
- **Hide from screen sharing.** On by default, only while a script is reading: people on your call, stream or recording that capture the screen do not see the panel; you still do. It needs Windows 10 version 2004 or newer.

## Shortcuts
- `Ctrl+Shift+Alt+P`: Start or pause reading
- `Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Up`: Faster
- `Ctrl+Shift+Alt+Down`: Slower

All shortcuts can be changed in Settings > Shortcuts.

## Good to know
- A phone or camera pointed at your screen can still see it.
- Hiding from capture has not been tested against specific products such as Zoom, Teams or OBS.
- Send text to it from the clipboard (“Read in teleprompter”) or from the Note. Word counting handles Chinese, Japanese and Thai as well as spaced languages.

## Questions
### Will people on my call see the teleprompter?
Not if “Hide from screen sharing while reading” is on (it is by default) and the call captures the screen. It needs Windows 10 version 2004 or newer. A phone or camera pointed at your screen can still see it.
