# A to-do list you add to in plain English

> Add tasks like “call mom tomorrow 5pm” or “every weekday”. PerchDeck's to-do list understands dates on your PC, repeats tasks, and reminds you on the notch with Done and Snooze.

Part of [PerchDeck](https://perchdeck.app/) for Windows. Canonical page: https://perchdeck.app/features/todo

Type the task the way you would say it. PerchDeck reads the date and repeat from the words, on your PC, with no internet.

## What it does
- **Plain-English dates.** “tomorrow”, “in 20 min”, “next monday”, “tonight”, “friday 9am”, and repeats such as “every weekday”, “daily”, “weekly”, “monthly”, “every monday”. English phrases only.
- **Views that match your day.** All, Today, Upcoming and Anytime, grouped Overdue, Today, Upcoming and Anytime. Edit, drag to reorder, tick to finish. Repeating tasks come back by themselves.
- **Reminders on the notch.** Remind at the time (default) or 5, 10, 15, 30 minutes or 1 hour before. A task with only a date reminds at 9:00 by default. The reminder shows on the notch with Done and Snooze (+10 min by default) and a soft chime.
- **On the calendar too.** Dated tasks also appear on their day in the Calendar.

## Shortcuts
- `Ctrl+Shift+Alt+D`: Add a to-do (cursor in the add box)

All shortcuts can be changed in Settings > Shortcuts.

## Good to know
- Reminders show only while PerchDeck is running.
- With “Hide the notch” on, nothing is shown on the notch, but the reminder sound still plays.
- Up to 5,000 tasks, with titles up to 200 characters. Finished tasks are forgotten after 30 days.
- Kept on this PC. Nothing syncs anywhere.

## Questions
### Will I get reminders if PerchDeck is closed?
No. Reminders show only while PerchDeck is running. “Start with Windows” is on by default, so it is normally running when you sign in; you can turn it off in Settings > General.
